i have a question

i have two withdrawals and i have been hearing different things from different people/places. someone told me that it will hurt against me and another person said it wont because there not science classes that i withdrew from. my advisor said it can look like i am lazy. so my question is will it hurt me? and what can i do to make it better (because its already too late). thanks guy!!

well mine was a econ and a spanish and i was taking those at 2 different semesters online. the econ was wayy to hard and i was taking spanish, i was having to much internet problems so i had to drop it. i know this cant justify why i withdrew but will there be problems even getting to an interview because of this?

Don't worry. As my undergrad advisor told me, W's are alot better than C's, D's, and F's. But one thing that graduate/pharmacy schools don't like to see is alot of W's and an ongoing trend of dropping classes. They will feel that you do not know how to time manage or you just like to give up whenever you feel like something is too tough for you. With that said, one or two Ws on your transcripts do not mean much. I had a couple Ws myself and it certain did not seem to affect me. Good luck 🙂

I had one W in an elective course. They never even asked me about it, but I also don't go to a school that interviews everyone (UF).

i was just honest about why i dropped the class a little late....

it was my first semester my freshman year at a major university... i was taking bio for biology majors, chemistry for chemistry majors, calculus for engineers, and some other classes....

i took the first calc test and discovered that my mom was right and that was a stupid schedule to attempt my first semester of college. so i withdrew from the course.

the interviewer laughed and noticed that i had good grades that semester and from then on and let it go.

I wouldn't explicitly say that the econ class was "way too hard." I'd try to put it in context of a difficult semester, or something like that. Be honest -- say that you've overextended yourself in the past but use your grades and EC's since then to explain that you've gotten over this problem.

If someone asked me a question about a W or bad grade that happened in the past, I would probably just say I was immature and dumb then but now I've matured and will never let that happen again.

I think that's all they want to hear. It's not like you can go back and change it and they know that.

That is interesting. Are you pulling our legs? The school I have a Bachelors Degree only allowed you to withdraw I think 6 times. After that you just had to take a D or F or whatever you got.

Then they had a D/F repeat policy where the D or F would stay on your transcript, but if you took the class again the new grade would be used to calculate your GPA instead of the D or F.

Yeah Imperial Frog, I remember you talking about it before. That is pretty crazy, but awesome! If you don't mind, what was your reason for having W's? Also, what do you think made the school decide that they wanted to accept you even with this dilemma?

hmm your school's awesome..my school rather lets you re-take the class and they average the old grade and the new grade together..
