Hey guys, just wondering how bad it looks that I withdrew from my summer orgo 1 course summer before junior year. The pace was super fast, and I got behind my first week.

I did take orgo 1 during the junior school year and got an A.

I've gotten all A's and one A- in my science classes. I also pass/failed a women's studies class my freshman year.

You'll be fine, don't worry. Great job with all the A's!

I hope you did something productive over the summer though?

Thank you, I hope I can finish out my junior year strong! I just ended up taking a summer session II course for my business major and volunteering at a senior care center.

To be honest, EC's are my weak point since I have no research. But hopefully strong stats will help compensate, since research isn't strictly required.

Not bad at all. Just make up an excuse like you got really busy in summer or you wanted to travel. Who cares. You got the A in juniro year so as far as they should know, it wasn't because you couldn't keep up 😛

research isn't required (although recommended by many schools), but strong stats will not make up for very weak EC's. You need to have a somewhat balanced application: solid stats and solid ECs. If you want to discuss this more, I suggest posting in the 'what are my chances thread'

edit: if you're saying they're 'weak' due to lack of research, then I wouldn't worry that much

As long as your grade is a "W" instead of a "WF" (withdrawn - failing), many medical schools probably won't even notice. The latter could affect your AMCAS GPA. And those that actually scrutinize your transcript very carefully won't be overly concerned about a single withdrawal from an accelerated summer course.
