without research

i think people even get into top research schools w/o research, according to msar.

Has anyone gotten in the medical college without having any research , especially in NY state schools?

many people have, but realize they still are the minority. I dont' remember the exact statistics (check the MSAR), but i think most schools have 70-90% of their class performing research in undergrad (these figures i think mostly come from the research schools i as looking at; non-research schools may be different).

my advice is that if you really dislike research (e.g. if you'll find yourself wanting to shoot yourself before walking into the lab), then it's probably not worth doing and you should devote your time elsewhere. otherwise, I think you should try just to experience it; doesn't have to be full time, just volunteer in a lab, or do a summer program to see what it's like.

Also, it doesn't necessarily have to be scientific bench research; a lot of people here have done research in the social sciences, and a lot of clinical research doesn't deal with the lab bench at all.
