Hey All,

So I'm getting started on writing my work/activities and would like to know if any successful applicants are willing to share (or PM) their work/activity description with me. I've read the "Great Tips..." thread but feel like there's nothing better than just seeing what successful applicants have done. I know of NickNaylor's mdapplicants profile, which is complete and obviously a fantastic resource but I feel that a few more examples would definitely help me out.

Thanks!

A few sources come to mind. The first being UW's advice - click on "Exploring Medicine" in the 2011 Focus Group Sessions. These guys take the 'explain what you learned, not what you did' approach and use paragraphs instead of bullet points.

The next is MedEdits. I purchased this book and was not all that thrilled with it. It can give an idea of what to write, but the activities and descriptions were not realistic for what the average pre-med does. This was also paragraph form, but I don't recall if it was 'explain what you learned' or 'explain what you did'. Overall, I'd probably give this book a 3.5/10 stars, but its cheep though, so not that big of waist if you don't like it.

Lastly, you can take a look at what I wrote in my MDApp. Though I haven't been accepted yet, it can give you an idea of what an actual applicant wrote.

there used to be a great resource posted here - http://www.premedasian.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/preston-amcas.pdf
the guy who ran that site posted his whole amcas application as a pdf with his personal statement and activity entries. Unfortunately the site just recently went down. hopefully he will put it back up because his site was a helpful resource for premeds. maybe someone on here has a copy of that pdf saved?
unfortunately not many people seem to post their activity descriptions on mdapps
