Hi,

I have a concern on an odd job that I've been doing every summer. So I actually do nails, yes, ladies nails every summer since freshman year as a part-time job at a nail salon. Should I put that on my resume as Nails Technician as I apply to dental school? I see nothing wrong with it since it also requires hand skills and accuracy. People have told me that it looks unprofessional on the paper. I need people's opinions on this. Please help a brother out :/

And is it necessary to put the amount of hours that I have accumulated through shadowing on my resume?

Thank you!

Absolutely put it on there man! Nothing wrong with doing nails. Dexterity is required in that profession.

Put it on. Don't listen to those people, all work experience is relevant. Even chicken catching.

Dentistry is about manual dexterity and art. Doesn't that sound very similar to what you're doing? I had two part time jobs in my undergrad just to make ends meet. I'm currently in my gap year and I'm still working. 😱Just put all of your work experience on your application.

Put nails down as work!!! Then you can mention it in hand skills. The pedals and files used when doing nails require some dexterity!
