has anyone seen this also? workers comp being used by a pt to pay for their insulin? I mean this guy seems to walk fine, its not like hes severely disabled....is this something i should follow up on? or keep letting it slide so long as its covered each month?

What would you follow up on?

I have also seen worker's comp pay for neuroleptics. Maybe the guy's job drove him crazy...

I'd let it go. If you want to worry about anything, how about all the transit drivers on high doses of Oxycontin?

well one pharmacy in my area, i guess workers comp did some audit or something, and hed been on meds for 12 years, they finally caught up now, and the pharmacy got 14 grand in chargebacks

Fair enough. But maybe that pharmacy was scamming in some way, or otherwise not doing due diligence with regard to what their responsibilities are around these rxs. You never know what the real story is; I'm sure they say they did everything by the book.

At my part-time retail gig that I just left, new workers' comp scripts were not just adjudicated through the computer, but followed up on with phone calls to workers' comp to ensure coverage.

Maybe your customer suffered a penetrating abdominal injury at work that damaged his pancreas. Crazier things have happened.

You could phone workers' comp and say it's unusual for them to cover insulin, so you just wanted to double-check. If they would send something in writing, even better.

Depends on the injury. If his pancreas was damaged on the job (motor-vehicle accident) or some chemical exposure who knows. I've heard of WC paying for HTN meds as well. It wouldn't hurt to follow-up but it could be legit.

yea im just gonna follow up just to make sure we dont get hit with a major chargeback
