Im looking to make a change and now looking for jobs after 4 years on the job I started this thread because I am talking to recruiters now and there are so many newly formed companies out there that it is hard to get a feel for any of them? Does anyone have first hand knowlege how it is to work for the following companies?

1) envision
2) Northstar
3) Team Health
4)Mednax
5) NAPA anesthesia?

This information would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know first hand about any of these although I am sure many here do. Only thing from my personal knowledge is several years ago I was offered a job from one of these. When I looked at the contract I was dumbfounded that anyone would agree to anything like that contract. Needless to say I have never entertained any of these since then.

I’ve talked to 1, 3, 4, 5. Seen contract from one of them. People will tell you, it’s region and sometimes practice specific.
It’s hard to change the language in the contract and sometimes what makes the process even more difficult is that they will send you a “practice manager” who has absolutely no clue what we do every day and sell you what the senior partners sold “them”.

People from different stages in their careers will have different perspectives regarding AMCs. In general, I will avoid if possible.

They are spreading across the country. It’s hard to compete with monster-sized companies. You might not be working with superstars. Depending on where you go, you might not make a ton of cash, but the vacation time might be decent.
There is a huge diff between locations even within the same company.
I have worked for NAPA in the past. Honestly it wasn’t a bad experience. I had a really good chairman, good surgeons (for the most part), and good crna’s. No upward mobility or partnership obviously.
You won’t really know what it’ll be like until you’re in it. People LOVE to complain wherever you go, so sometimes it’s hard to get the real story.

I work for one. It’s a job. My hours are fairly set and so is my salary. Nothing wrong with that (despite what is said on this site)

Upward mobility, partnership, ownership. Whatever that suppose to be, our generation will never know. Anything wrong? No. Also will never make stupid money our predecessors ever did.

A few things. Any particular reason you're talking to recruiters at all? Any reason you're specifically looking at these AMCs (i.e. market domination in your locations of choice, etc)? If you're still in residency, I'd start by talking to recent grads or even your attendings. They all have friends at jobs all over the place. Use the network that's currently at your fingertips.

Only one from that list in my neighborhood is Mednax. They appear to be a s%^tshow.

Theyre everywhere. I cant avoid it. Even major hospitals have anesthesia management groups.. I was trying to figure out which one was the most evil.

There aren't any really easy generalizations here, it really depends on the individual locations and areas you are looking at.

They all suck. Work anywhere other then an AMC. If you MUST work for one of these clowns, you'll have to ask others who is the least of evils.

The generalization is that they all take money that you earn while providing little to nothing in exchange, they don’t improve care in any way, and they harm patients and society as a whole by raising costs.

Nothing in exchange? Au contraire. They provide plausible deniability to the hospital admin since the AMC (via their "culture") can and will dictate when, where, and how you will practice medicine for the entirety of your career. You will have zero unity with your partners.

You seem to be responding as if AMCs are taking over by convincing CEOs of their value. I think there’s some of that going on (and some briefcases of cash to help with the convincing), but that has nothing to do with all the groups selling out to AMCs, which is the largest factor ruining anesthesia. It is also irrelevant to someone seeking a job with no options but to pay kickbacks to the AMC in exchange for the right to work.
