Working in So CA

graduates from CA do have the advantage but that doesn't mean you can't get a good position in CA. I think you need to start early and work while you are in school, and ask to be transferred to a store in CA for the summer. Keep in mind that work experience and connection matter the most.

Heh I've found that everywhere in Southern California, not just at retail pharm stores, in terms of employment. Particularly in the pharmaceutical industry. Almost every employee, particularly the higher-ups, either graduated from a UC or a Cal state. Except for statisticians. Socal either has a ridiculous, snooty, "california is the best" attitude, or it just happens to work out this way because of the employee pool.

During my interview at USC, they made it a point to promote the job opportunities available in the area by simply being a member of the Trojan family. While I don't believe it would be impossible to find a job, I'm sure there may or may not be a little favoritism at play.
