Hi! I am a medical spanish doctor (in two months, a family doctor). I want to know if there is a way to work in the USA without doing residency again. If anybody wants me to work for him in Usa, can I do it with my USMLE and not doing residency?

I do not kow much about this. Thank you.

I think it's not possible to work as a family physician without doing residency. They might give you some advance standing after your internship in the US (that will only save you a year) but you still have to repeat your residency training.
In the past, some worked as PA's (physician assistant) but even these have examinations and they are getting protective of their turf in some states.

Go to the web site for the Federation of State Medical Boards. There's information there that will help you navigate the requirements for whatever state you want to practice in (each state has their own rules/requirements for medical licensure). Here's a page to get you started:

http://www.fsmb.org/directory_smb.html

Also, the so-called "Green Book" printed by the AMA that contains a directory of all the ACGME residencies in the US has tables that list the requirements for foreign physicians to obtain medical licenses in each state. That's another resource you can use.

Keep in mind that beyond ECFMG requirements you might have visa requirements to fulfill as well.

¡Buena suerte!

In order to practice medicine in the US, you must complete a US residency. It is extremely difficult to get any credit for work done outside the US, so you should assume that you will need to complete a full internship and residency.

i think certain residencies in canada are accepted in united states. so someone can work in the states without an american residency.

I believe this is board specific. The ABIM gives credit for candian resiencies, I do not know if that is true for other specialties. Thanks for the correction, though.
