Working while taking prereqs at night

Ill be doing two classes a semester at night. This should put me at my goal of two years for my prereqs. I need to work to save up for the 4 years of poorness as I live on my own, dont have rich parents, and have no husband 😀

What is the best strategy? Math is my enemy, but that doesnt mean I dont do well. I get good grades but its usually after a great deal of struggle. Any suggestions?

One strategy is to take Calculus as the last class. If you apply during your second year of taking classes, you may be accepted while your Calculus class is in progress. This would happen the spring before starting pharmacy school. If this happens, all you need is a C in Calculus. Just make sure you get all As in the other classes that will show up on Pharmcas by the time you apply.

I like your suggestion about Calculus. I took Business Calculus for my BBA but it was very difficult to get the B-.

I think that this would be the best choice, but it might mean that you'd be taking ochem II, physics II and calculus during your last semester - that could be a rough few months. Would you be able to take any classes over the summer? Also, do you plan on taking the PCAT? You might want to have the first semester of OChem out of the way before you do.

Yes. Ill probably take the PCAT after a year (6 classes) I should have enough of a backround to have half a clue by that time 😀

Personally, I think taking two science classes with labs while working full time, fitting in healthcare/pharmacy extracurriculars, and preparing for the PCAT is a bit much.

I'm keeping busy working 50+ hours and taking Anatomy at night. I can't imagine trying to add another class to that! I'll admit that I'm not a "super student" like many of the people on this forum. I like to have at least some personal time.

wow Sakgit, that's a lot to put on ur plate. i would suggest to coordinate ur schedule in accordance to ur strengths. for instance, if my foundation in math is weak but much stronger in chemistry or biology, then I would structure my schedule to have one of each per semester. Also, a strong foundation in math really helps with doing well in physics. Since u r not tested for physics in ur pcat's, i would suggest to start with math in ur curriculum (esp since it has NO lab 🙂 ) until you feel confident to tackle physics. Courses with labs demand a lot of work, so try taking one lab and one non lab if possible. I hope this helps and that it doesn't confuse u.

I graduated with a BBA in 5 years because I worked 40 hours a week, the last two working 9-5 then going to class Mon-Thurs 6p-9p. I am very used to being busy 😉

Im going to try out 2 classes per semester and after two years I should have enough saved up to go to school FT and work PT.

Im one of those people where if Im not busy I feel like Im wasting my time. Its either working on prereqs or getting my MBA and Pharmacy intrests me much more 😉
