Hey guys Im kind of worried for my DAT... I am going to take it in 3 weeks and I just took my first practice test (I have been studying for a week).

ADA
Bio 19
Gchem 19
Ochem 18
PAT 21
TS 19
Skipped QR and RC (maybe ill do them later today)

I heard many people say that the ADA sample test is a joke so I am worried that these scores may be equivalent to a ~16 on the real DAT. Should I postpone it? Is 3 weeks enough to raise my scores?

What material are you using? It is true that the ADA test is much easier than the real one, try Kaplan/DAT destroyer/DAT achiever tests in order to scale your abilities better. For PAT I would practice with CDP. Although I find that 1 month is not enough time to fully prepare for the DAT, depends on how much time you study per day thought.

I have been studying with Princeton Review's Hyperlearning MCAT and Kaplan BB. I have the DAT Destroyer but I was thinking of starting to study with it next week. I want to get the basics down before I hit the detailed stuff. Thanks for the advice

Hey man we're in the same boat, so you're not alone. I haven't taken any practices yet just tried to jump right into the sciences starting with chem. But yeah I'm basically starting from scratch too got three weeks to relearn all this...sounds like your study materials are good though just get some ass glue and stay in the books lol.

Start the destroyer now. It covers the basics. I made that mistake. I used Kaplan Blue Book to cover the basics and it just wasted my time. The ADA is easier, but it's still good practice. The only reason the ADA is easier is because it asks you reasonable questions. Everything you come across you have studied. On the real DAT you will more than likely come across multiple questions you either didn't even come across during your studying or chose not to study in detail, more likely the latter. If you have the destroyer, START IT NOW. Use the other sources for clarification, further explanations, or just a different viewpoint. You need at least two weeks to learn the destroyer effectively.

I support what above said. I also would recommend doing a few other practice tests now in order to have a good "feel" of what type of questions the DAT is going to give. That way, when you are studying, you know what depth to focus on.

I 3rd this

ADA sample is not indicative of anything.
I agree with previous posters IF you have a strong background in the sciences. IF not, getting destroyer with only 3 weeks before your test will just create unnecessary chaos and panic in your studying.
I would much rather read through Kaplan blue book and race through topscore (don't get achiever for the same reason you don't get destroyer)

IF you are a science pro, then go for destroyer and achiever ASAP, my DAT studying came altogether in around 3-4 weeks time, but i did it about 6hrs/day for 15days with breaks on the weekend and scored above 20AA, 20TS

this is true, it all depends on your current science understanding. Make sure you know the basics first and then do practice tests
