So my name is not that common. I'm a little worried, however, because when I google my name the #1 & 2 link are a twitter account and facebook account that spams "FREE DRINKS," "COME PARTY," and various other very non-professional things.

The worrisome part is that he goes to the exact same university as me, is the same grade, and has very similar traits (ex: same race, same major, in Greek life, etc.). I've run into this problem at my university where we happened to be in the same class and our grades got mixed up. After that I just always put my university ID and middle name on all my assignments.

Do you think admissions officers would wrongly think that it is me? If so, how do I address/fix this problem. I don't have access to the twitter accounts and facebook accounts because its not me lmao.

Also, I don't have a twitter. My facebook account was set to private so it hasn't been google-able since I made it.

I wouldn't worry too much (see the thread about adcoms checking social media). However, I think the easiest way to fix this would be make a twitter/facebook/whatever with your full name (first, middle, last), add a few tame posts and make it recognizable as you. Then at least there's more than one online persona with your name. But really, I wouldn't worry if I were you.

This is an Asian problem. I have to deal with that too.

I would change your name so it's more unique if you can, maybe use a middle initial, not just for dental school applications but for future employment and such. They check social media as well.

If it's not you then don't worry. You could explain this to adcoms in about 5 seconds
It would be unfortunate if they didn't ask you about it but instead just judged you silently.

Keep a photo of yourself in your profile photo and your cover photo since many schools require you to send a 2x2. They can then match up the photo if need-be. Also, if you have any dental related photos, maybe you took a photo or can take a photo at a dental clinic you shadowed, put that in your cover photo or profile photos so they know which student is you???
