512 MCAT 3.77 cGPA, 1200 research hours, founded a club and various leadership things, 4000ish clinical hours and 2000 projected working hood EMS.

I've been working full time in an underserved city and I like it a lot better than taking care of rich people. My goal is to serve through medicine and get in underserved areas or overseas doing mission work. I like their mission and my primary fits them pretty well.

However, from what I see Howard tends to really favor URM. I'm wasian which makes me a model minority and white at the same time so idk how they feel about that. I also didn't grow up or live in a medically underserved community. I'm wondering if I should even both applying, or would I be wasting my time and money?

We do have some white, Asian, and wasian students among the student body at Howard. If you truly feel your experiences and goals align with the mission of Howard and they are genuine, then no, it's not a waste to give it a try

Have you engaged in service to African-American communities?
I've been working full time EMS in Newark Nj which is mostly black and I plan on doing it over my gap year.

Haven't done any charity stuff or anything tho. My job is basically a charity since like 99% of our patients are medicare/medicaid and the ambulance is the only way the get their foot into healthcare, but that's a different conversation.

That's good to hear. Might as well send the application in.

You got any ideas what I could write about the secondary which asks if I've ever lived in a medically underserved community? I have spent a lot of time in and out of people's homes working EMS and did a lot of chatting with them, but I grew up very middle class white suburban America.

The answer is obviously, no. Worked extensively in, yes.
