Worth it to submit DO secondaries this late or just wait until next cycle?

I applied to both MD and DO schools this cycle (12 MD and 5 DO). I completed all my MD secondaries in August, and have received my DO secondaries in around October/November time. I applied DO mainly as a backup but never took it seriously because I had no initial interest. I was banking on having better luck with MD schools but I seriously have to consider applying next cycle now. I only receiving 1 interview (rejected), 1 flat out rejection, 3 holds, and the other 8 schools still waiting for a response.

I have to take the reality of the situation and am re-considering my choice to put off DO schools. Would it be a wise decision to submit my secondaries to DO schools NOW (months later) or just wait until next cycle to apply as early as possible?

Background: cGPA 3.48, 33 MCAT (12/8/13) after my 28 last year (12/6/10)

Thank you!

This would have been bettered answered on Pre-osteo.

If you haven't had any exposure to DO practice (OMT/OMM) then it will be very tough to gain an interview to a DO school at this point. So by the time you can find a DO to shadow it will probably april may and you'll be interviewing for a waitlist spot.

Better to just shadow a DO and reapply next year. Your MCAT and GPA is good so you shouldn't have a hard time getting interviews.

If you have shadowed a DO then you could try and apply right now, you'll probably get some interviews if you have a unique app.

It's way too late. DO schools will be able to see right through you. They tend to not like when people only use them as a backup (especially when it is obvious from their application).

At this point in the DO cycle, you probably would be more in line to interview for a spot on a wait list.

And expect the inevitable question of "Why am I interviewing you now?"

I suggest, therefore, that you wait until June 1 and apply with the best possible packet.
