Hey,
So I am a Canadian student looking to apply to US schools. I was wondering if it is even worth it applying this late? My gpa is 3.89 and I just recently wrote my MCAT so I do not have my scores yet. However I think it went well (my average for all the AAMC's was 39). My EC's are decent, nothing too exceptional (national level athletics, executive of mentorship program, 1 publication that is submitted, volunteering here and there). Is it worth it for me to apply this late? Should I only consider applying to schools that do not offer admissions on a rolling basis (i.e. the Ivey league schools) or would these schools be too much of a reach. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

When will you have your MCAT score? IE when can you have your 1º application complete?
All US schools are rolling, but if you can't have your 2º applications done by the end of September, I would say wait till next year.
Lol at your "nothing too exceptional" ECs when you have natl athletics + a pub...
How much clinical exposure (shadowing)/experience (volunteering) do you have? That's important too.

Thanks for your reply. I will have my MCAT score on September 9th according to AMCAS. Does the MCAT score need to be in for the primary app to be considered complete? And in terms of EC's in Canada it is very difficult to get any sort of shadowing/clinical exposure; it is borderline illegal and highly frowned upon. And yes a lot of people say that all schools are rolling but I thought that the Ivey's (atleast overtly) say that they are not rolling?

bump... I would really appreciate any input what so ever from people familiar with the application process in America. Thanks

Me too. Canadian also here, 14/10/14 PS/VR/BS MCAT. 3.58 cGPA. Thanks a lot.

Sorry to hijack ._.

If you want to give yourself the best possible chance at acceptance, you should wait until next year.

That being said, you still have a chance to get in this year, but interviews and subsequent acceptances might already have been handed out before you get your primary in.

If money is not an issue should I just apply regardless? Or will it hurt me because I will be considered a 're-applicant' next year?

You can submit your primary before taking the MCAT. I submitted early June and didn't take the MCAT until mid-July. You will likely receive some secondaries right away. I received several before I even took the MCAT.
