I am applying to 5 DO schools.
I am a Florida resident so I am very interested in LECOM Bradenton and just sent my app there.
Is it possible that DO schools reject me due to my GPA being too high and assume I'll get in MD? I was reading other threads that schools can do that, but I am wondering if there is any truth behind it.

I applied both MD and DO.

Nope, I have very similar stats and primarily only received love from DO schools. Will be attending NSU-KPCOM this summer.

Similar stats (3.96 GPA, 509 MCAT) and accepted DO.
With a 508, doubtful.

I have a friend who had good stats (3.88/32 (~512ish) who got more DO interviews than MD and is at a DO school now

Thank you.
Do you think I should apply to more DO schools then or is 27 MD 5 DO fine?
I thought my stats could at least get some love from a few MD schools but now im not sure.

Not my school. I've interviewed people who who had LM scores of 80.

5 DO fine?
Applied with almost the same stats and only ended up with one MD II --> waitlist. Got an interview at LECOM-B for their first interview date and was accepted.

You are probably safe only applying to 5 DO schools with those stats though, as long as you picked ones you actually like and want to attend.

Yeah I am applying to LECOM Bradenton, ACOM, PCOM, RVU COM, and KCU COM.

All of them seem like pretty good schools

Stop believing the propaganda. If you are rejected, it won't be because you're "too good." Given your stats, you seem rather average as an applicant

No. That’s like the nurses who apply to med school and get rejected bc of the nursing shortage. It doesn’t happen. I could see it if you had like a 520+ mcat maybe.

Wait is that some sort of urban legend

I want to know about this, sounds hilarious

It’s a rationalization subpar applicants with a nursing background make when they get rejected from med school. I’d only heard of it online and laughed it off as fake news until I met several people IRL who claimed that happened to them...

Their apps were terrible but were given courtesy interviews bc they were local.

That would take some mental gymnastics for sure. XD
