So for the past month and a half, I have been volunteering at a Forex bureau overseas. Since I couldn't volunteer at a local hospital here, I found the opportunity to work as a volunteer at a forex bureau. Although I am not helping the needy, I have learned many things during this time. I did a lot of accounting work and I also worked as a teller. The duty of a teller is to serve the costumers exchange their foreign currency to the local currency.

So my question is does this count as a valid EC? Should I continue with this and use it when I am applying to med school?

All input is appreciated.
Thanks

1) Yep.

2) Med schools care more about how long the volunteer activity lasts than what it was exactly. If you want to volunteer elsewhere, do that, but pick something and stick with it.

This might look better as employment. They don't need to know you worked for free. I don't think that would look good in this case. Paid employment would look far better.

Being a volunteer at what is essentially a banking business seems irregular at best and perhaps a bit bizarre. You can call anything you spend time on an EC and use it to account for how you spent your time but I'd expect adcoms to say "What's that all about?" 😕
