Hey everyone,

So a friend of mine told me that I would have the opportunity to come shadow and observe intensivists in the critical care department at a hospital. I'm really excited to so this, but would I need to have a specific doctor that I am shadowing for this to be actual shadowing, or can it be different doctors?

It can be different doctors.

The advantage I can see of shadowing one over a long term is that you really get to know that one and you may become more comfortable asking questions about more touchy subjects in medicine, asking for LORs, etc. I would think that the advantage to shadowing multiple doctors is that you learn about multiple individuals perspectives on what they are doing.

Definitely is shadowing, I think if you're formally observing doctors, you're shadowing. Agree with everything @RaidenXVC said.

Only would point out that I've heard on here time and time again LOR's from MD/DO don't carry much weight if you're applying MD. A DO letter is great though if you're applying DO.
