You're a young male staff pharmacist at a hospital 1-4 years out of pharmacy school. Your DOP is a preceptor for students from the local pharmacy school. One of the new students coming to your site is really cute and seems to be flirting with you. Do you pursue it?

Now, I've always heard "no" from the point of view of the student pursuing someone from the hospital, but what about the other way around?

Is the student on their 4th year rotations or working weekly/monthly/daily as an intern? That is a very important question and requires an answer. Dating a co-worker is NEVER a good idea if you like your job. You are giving them the ultimate control and asking for trouble. I don't care what any other poster says here about dating a regular intern and how it could work out....they are wrong. Period.

Now rotation student is different, I don't see anything wrong with dating them AS LONG as their rotation is finished. Don't go out on a date with them while they are rotation through your site.

Is that even allowed? lol

Reminds me of when one of my friends during the initial years of pharmacy school started dating a newly turned pharmacist at her workplace..when we found out, all we thought was "is that even professional?"

you can't date her while she's still on rotation!

APPE student, lol.

Once they are off rotation or graduate I don't see why not. I don't think that's appropriate though while they are rotating.

**** rules. Date your co-worker if you know the consequences (bad or good). It's happening everywhere and it's normal. Just don't do it when you are her preceptor.

No, as clearly this person will not be able to obtain a job (saturation) and will be in debt.

Seriously though, I would say feel free to go after them once they finish their rotation.

Also, I heard the DoP is already hitting it.

I've heard many stories about students dating preceptors, and later marrying them. It's when those preceptors are also employed by the college that it is a problem. I've also heard of people hooking up with their residents.

However, be careful. You might not know the true intentions of the girl's flirtation. It could be a trap! 😛

What's that saying about fishing from the same pond or some crap? Yeah, don't do it.And if you do it, make sure you have an out. Thereis nothing more awkward than having to work with or regularly see someone you've had a relationship with. Pharmacy is a small world. Then you gotta see 'em at conferences and what not, run in the same circles, etc. .....

pics or it didn't happen

I say just do it. Everything that is rewarding in life has some kind of risk. The more the risk, the more the reward.

I follow the rule of don't **** were you eat. If it might cause problems try to hold off till your in the clear, but being "friends with benefits" might be fine for awhile lol!

To put it bluntly; THIS IS PROBABLY A BAD IDEA.

One of our preceptors at UIC actually met his future wife when she was a student with him on rotation. However, the relationship didn't start until after the rotation was over. If the student is done with the rotation, than yes, you can try and date her, but not while she is an active student.

Two of my friends married their ex-interns in the past year. As long as you aren't her superior when anything transpires, it's all good.

So you hit that
yet or what Sparda? I would 😎

She isn't the first femme fatale to come through those doors and I'll bet my paycheck she won't be the last. Whatever happens, keep in mind this quote from DC Cabs:

Don't let your dick run your life.

She isn't even his student.
Just do it.
