Hello and thank you for reading,

I am currently a junior and took the MCAT in December, when I saw that I failed miserably, I took it again and of course didn't do much better. I am currently signed up to take the new mcat in June. This means I won't be able to submit an application until july 19. Also, with this semester being harder than I expected, I have severely neglected reviewing up until now, which leaves me with less than 2 months to review. If you were in my shoes, would you take it or take a year off and take it in the future. If I take it in the future, I would plan on taking it around April and slowing review until January and then go "hard". I graduate a semester early which means I can devote my winter semester to MCAT without having to take any classes. What are the pros and cons of either choice? Is taking a year of looked down upon. I feel that taking a year off will allow me to do much more to strengthen my application. Thank you so much for your time!!

Take a year off. You're headed towards a third bad MCAT score and that's basically a death sentence. Take the extra year to focus mainly on review while strengthening your app with a few hours of EC's/work sprinkled in as needed. Medicine is a marathon not a sprint.

Do NOT take a career-deciding, high stakes exam unless you're fully ready for it.

Adcoms are allergic to poor choice makers.

stop. just stop. don't take the exam in june. you know you're not going to be ready. stop rushing something so important

I certainly wouldn't take it in June. You don't want to rush this thing, especially if it's your 3rd retake. You might take it at the end of the summer if you can dedicate your summer to studying, otherwise wait until next year if you still don't feel ready. You will need to dedicate some serious time to studying.
