I'm currently working the 10 week EK self study program. For those of you who've tried the 1001 series, is it worth it? I'm thinking about buying it for extra practice.

Also what programs have practice exams that are the closest representation to the mcat? Are the AAMC exams the way to go?

Verbal and bio greatly help. The others are not as helpful as Berkley Review.

I personally would much rather practice problems that are passage based. Do you know of any programs that offer only passage based questions? From what I understand the EK 1001 series only offers problem sets.

Not verbal 101 and bio 1001. They are passage-based. BR and TPR (for verbal) are also passage-based.

I would say the opposite...Bio is not worthwhile, the others are def good for practice and making sure you've covered all the topics from multiple angles.
It's not a stand-alone, though, you want to use 1001 to supp something like TBR.

TBR has a crapton of passage-based questions in their review books. Hands-down the best value in prep, imo. 1001 is cheap, though, so I combined them.

So the bio and verbal EK 1001 books are passage based, but all of the other subjects aren't? So would TPR be a good source for physics, chemistry and psychology?

If you're going for passages, TPR and TBR are the best. TBR has more, and they're more organized, but they are harder, which some people dislike. TPRH is good.
I would not recommend using the passage-based EK1001 (the Bio). It's too simplistic.

Yes. And I only used tpr for verbal practice. Any others I used Berkeley. But I know someone who just study ek series and score a 37.

I thought they were all pretty good. There are of course some weaknesses, like any test prep company. I liked the verbal - it gives styles of questions that are very similar to mcat questions, in my opinion. It was a little easier than the real MCATs, I thought.

I liked the 1001s as a supplement when doing the EK 10 week program. They suggest you do every 5th question. Whatever. I did every one. If you pay for all 1,001 questions, you might as well use them.
