Honest question, I have all A's and B's on my transcript but one little annoying C+ littered in there. Debating on if I should retake it or not (freshman year chemistry course), because I can graduate a semester early, I'm not really sure what i want to do so and I've been thinking about retaking a C+ and a B- grade but not sure if its really worth it. advice?

I had a C+ my first semester because I took graduate level theoretical calculus (don't ask I was an idiot for taking it). I wouldn't recommend retaking since it's your freshmen year. If your school erases the old grade and puts in the new one though, definitely retake. No one shall ever know. 😛

OP, I would advise retaking the C+, because if you retake and get an A, DO's will accept the A, and MD's will average the two (I figure B or B+). It depends on your preferences though, as C+ would still appear in the MD transcript.

You took a graduate math course as an undergraduate? Is that possible?

Often colleges won't let you retake a class lower than a D. Hopefully you have taken higher level Chemistry courses and gotten higher grades, so that should suffice.

I tested into it, thought I was smart enough, and basically got slapped in the face. Apparently grad schools don't care for grades? The high score in the class got a B. hahaha

I don't think it's worth retaking this course if doing so would prevent you from graduating early. Take that time and do something fun with your life. Won't make a huge difference in your med school application, provided you have a decent science GPA including that grade.

I wouldn't retake, but his would also depend on my overall GPA and if I am considering DO, which has a grade replacement policy.

Don't retake. I received 2 C+'s in core courses due to a mishap. Instead of retaking, because that would prove nothing, I took advanced courses in those same areas.

For me personally, I wouldn't retake it. In the long run, it might be just a penny on the rail.

don't retake. I got a C+ in an "evolution & ecology" bio class that I wish I never signed up for in the first place. I was definitely taking too many credits that quarter.... and there's no way I'd want to take it again either 🙄

you might wanna learn new things instead 🙂

I wouldn't retake it. I got a C+ in intro chem and my advisor told me not to retake it, just to do well in upper level chem classes/orgo (which I have thus far). my BCPM is still solid and it sounds like yours will be too. one C+ won't really hurt. I know people who have gotten into med school with a few C's, you can still have a strong GPA even with a C or two

First of all, most of us don't believe you. Don't be a schizoid.
Secondly and more importantly, MD schools average the two grades, so someone indeed shall know.

Huh, why? It's an option for every freshman who tests into it in my school...it's not like I was a genius and was the only person who tested into it. I had three other friends from my dorm who took the class with me (2 ended up with better grades). Some kids who were legit smart took algebra and upper level analysis which are both hard as hell.

Firstly, I'm sure to most people it doesn't matter if they believe me or not. The point isn't that I messed up my gpa by taking a math class I could never get an A in. The point is that retaking doesn't prove much in my opinion.

Secondly, you didn't go to my university so you don't know how our classes and placements work.

Thirdly, I know someone who has schizophrenia and it's nothing to joke about.

No need to be douchey!
