I see, well after residency and after establishing a practice I want to go on missionary trips to other countries. I know of some physicians that fly to Vietnam every summer and from what they tell me, it has been one of the most rewarding times of practicing medicine.
 
No, there is enough charity work that needs to be done here in the states.

yes, there are many needy and medically underserved people here in the States. As physicians, we may very well have the power to help them every day in our practice. So I think it's even more important to go where people are sick and dying with NO medical care and share our wealth...

yeah but the need in some countries is greater than here and you are only spending a year. I agree though that charity begins at home.
