Alright, I want to give you guys the low down on me, so you guys can give me a course of action. I'm a 2nd year college student with junior status. All of my premed requirements except for physics 1 and 2 are completed. I go to Mercer, and am in the biomedical engineering program with an option to head directly to Mercer's med school. My research and ECs are OK nothing like curing cancerl. Not much shadowing or volunteering. GPA is the highest possible. If I don't do well on the MCAT I'll give up all hope on entering med school and sue my school for not adequately preparing me.

If I really push it i may have a chance to graduate a yr early.. but very doubtful with engineering requirements and a final senior design project. So whats the deal..

What should I push for taking the MCAT next April 05 or the following August. Which classes should i thrown in this year, some people have told me biochem in the spring? and then the kaplan course over the summer?

And how extensive does my research have to be? I did some, topic sucked and the atmosphere didn't appeal to me. I like people.

Okay any ideas comments, suggestions, complaints..

take physics 1 and 2 the two semesters leading up to taking the MCAT...you probably havn't had physics since HS and i thought doing this helped a TON on the physical sciences section...Best of luck!

i really dont understand your situation. why all the worry if you already have gotten into mercer med? (assuming a bs/md program)

Not even in high school... last time was physical science in 8th grade.. thats what u get for switching schools and continents a few times.

Im not in yet.. I just need to maintain a certain gpa and score in the 50th percentile of their previoius entering class, which is like a 27. But come on Macon, GA for 8 yrs straight, Ill end up hating medicine. And oh yea its an EDP so im locked in if i end up going through with the dual admissions program.

well, take the frieken test and then see how you score. based on that decide if youll stay at mercer. can you do that?

oh yeah, take phsyics now. and biochem and physio would be good to. if you take it next august...you would be taking it first semester jr year, right? well, i think if you study during the summer and do well you should take it....that way youll know before april 06 if you should go to mercer.

now, i dont suggest rushing and applying in 05. really, trust me...you need to take it slow. now, if you do end up finishing sr year early, then great...go travel or something or youll be finishing up interviews. so good luck. hope that helps a bit.
