hello all. i need some advice.

for a few years after college i tried applying to dental school...one year i got in and didn't go, then the next year i didn't get in

i was wondering if i should explain this situation in the application essay for optometry school or if i should wait to discuss this when (IF) i get invited for interviews...wouldn't the admissions department want to know what happened before considering me for an interview...should i even mention dentistry at all in my application, shadowing n all...because wouldn't the admissions department be wondering what i have been doing in the gap of time since college and now
