I am planning on writing update letters to a few schools (GWU, Louisville, NYMC, maybe Rush). Anyway, I was wondering if I can get some feedback on what to say.

I was planning on opening up by reiterating my interest in each school. Then explaining how I have continued to research and volunteer in the hospital. Next I was going to talk about one community service project I did for Relay for Life. Then I was going to explain that I shadowed two physicians (Internal Med and Gen Surgery). For this, should I explain what I saw/gained from the experience? Also, it was only about 10 hours total, should I mention this (I have no prior shadowing, but lots of med volunteer work) or should I say "2 days of shadowing". Lastly, should I mention the names of the physicians?

Then I was going to wrap up by mentioning my 4.0 this semester.

Any thoughts would be great. Is there anything I should add or take out?

Thanks

sounds good. i wouldnt mention the physicians by name, nor would i mention the exact number of hours or days you did it, because that is something they can ask you about in your interview and you can explain it there. just say something along the lines of "i got the opportunity to shadow physicians". and you can say what their specialty is.

an update letter doesnt have to be long, you can just highlight on the things you've been up to since AMCAS. so you don't need to go into a lot of detail on your activities.

Writing the letters today... anyone else have any input?
