With an MCAT score finally in hand, I would greatly appreciate any help fine-tuning my school list, as it's currently quite long.
GPA: 3.91 cGPA, 3.88 sGPA
MCAT: 517 (~even distribution)
Residency: Fl
Major: Biochem
UG Institution: large, public state school
Clinical Experience:
-300 hrs direct patient interaction (working w/ mentally ill)
-50 hrs recreational program (same patient demographic as above)
-50 hrs starting a new recreational program (same patient demographic as above)
Research:
-2 competitive summer research fellowships; presented at national conferences; won travel and poster presentation awards
-3 yrs working in lab at home institution (1st and 3rd author publications in low-mid impact journals); presented at internal, national, and international conferences; won research grant, travel award, and internal poster award
-1 semester full-time research abroad related to clinical experience; won research grant; presented at international conferences; won travel and poster presentation awards
-1 year of full-time research related to clinical experience (upcoming)
Shadowing
-100 hrs; good spread of specialties
Non-clinical volunteering
-250 hrs; experiences focus on 1) Hispanic communities & 2) teaching science to disadvantaged youth, with some miscellaneous experiences thrown in
Teaching
-150 hrs TAing (head undergrad TA)
