I know this has been beaten to death, but can someone please summarize how wrvu equates to dollar amount across payors. We are trying to convert to rvu compensation model from our collections based model and I’m trying to get a real understanding of how it works.

Thanks

RVU = wRVU + peRVU + mpRVU

CMS Rate = $32.74/RVU

Commercial payors have some multiplier of that CMS rate (1.5x, etc.).

Back out your wRVU accordingly. Below calculator works pretty well.

wRVU is roughly 53% of the total RVU. malpractice generally runs 5%.

private payors dont use RVU.

payors generally establish a set fee that they will cover for a procedure, based on site of service. that may be negotiable.
