Im trying to choose between CSU and WSU, luckily, I've narrowed it down that far. I'm WICHE, so I have IS tuition and a scholarship at both, so cost is less of a factor. These are the pros and cons I have seen so far at each, if people could put their two cents in, that would be wonderful!

WSU:
Pros:
-Beautiful teaching hospital
-super close knit community
-seems to emphasize grades and competition less and collaboration more (can anybody confirm that impression that I got?)
-the students seemed happy and less stressed (comparatively to other schools)
- Public health certification program
- They seem super willing to work with you to make sure you get the most out of your education

Cons:
-Its pullman
-Its really far away from home (Im from new mexico)

CSU:
Pros:
-VTH is to die for...it has everything
-you get to work in the VTH your third year (like you get cases)
- there are so many cutting edge opportunities in orthopedics (which is what im interested in)
- I've heard amazing things about the faculty, students have told me they are willing to bend over backwards for you to make sure you succeed (how true is this? anybody??)
-Close to home
-They have the emergency clinic there, which means broader range of cases
-Just because of their location you get more exposure to different cases

Cons:
- I get differing information on this, but I've heard the students are really competitive with one another?
- When I went to visit (and every time I have called with questions) they have seemed like they don't care about my interest in the school and have been a little rude, are they like this once you become a student?

I definitely know the pros and cons of the curriculums at this point, and I've compared price, and it's less of an issue. So at this point it comes down to the feel of each school. I want to be somewhere where it feels like I'm working with colleagues, not competing against my classmates all day every day, I had enough competition in undergrad to get in, in the first place. Soooo ANY feedback would be helpful!

Ok, I'm biased but...
CSU is as competitive as you make it. There is ranking, which I'm sure is the same at other universities but you also have a GPA. Everyone has been super helpful, including staff and my classmates. We share information and study guides!!

Also, there are a lot of people from New Mexico here.

It looks like CSU has more pros than WSU on your list. I had to make the same decision as you, but I also had to consider my husband and not uprooting him so CSU was the obvious choice.

Good luck! Come find me next year if you decide to come to CSU!
