Does anyone know where I could find WVSOM match list? Thank you.

i'd like to know this one, too, but apparently they don't make it public. anybody from wvsom have any anecdotal information for us. i do know something like 50-60% of grads get residencies in west virginia and a little more than 80% wind up in primary care. i'm not sure how primary care is defined for that statistic, though. it might include ob/gyn and psych (the two things i think i want), or it might just be fp, im and peds.

I think primary care includes emergency medicine, internal medicine, and family practice. <not sure> I wonder if we can email the admissions office for the info. Do they give it out if asked?

Generally speaking, "Primary Care" refers to IM, Peds, Family Practice, Ob/Gyn, and now EM as well.

The only info I have on the match is that something like 90% of the class got their first choice on the match. I think that's the number they gave us during orientation.

Thanks for the info. I knew I was missing something 🙂. I'm glad it includes EM now as that is what I'm seriously considering along with family practice. How hard is it for 4th year students to do rotation in another state?

3rd year is st the statewide campus. 4th year electves and selectives you can do at the staewide campus, or find somewhere else to do it, but you need to make the contacts and such yourself.

In other words, you can go wherever you want 4th year, but be prepared to make all the phone calls and do the necessary paperwork yourself (with help from the school when necessary), but they don't "set up" those rotations for you.,

The extent of our match list for 2005 is attached. It gives geographical location and specialty, and occasionally the name of the hospital and/or university.
Thank you so much!

I got a PM that chastized me for posting the 2005 WVSOM match list, since it contained people's names. A lot of schools' websites provide the names and location of where there grads go, so I didn't think anything of it at the time.

Nonetheless, I deleted my post. If anyone else out there is interested in where WVSOM grads matched last year, let me know and I can post a modified list that has no names.

hey, inductionagent, i'm definitely interested. if you could post the modified list, that would be great. if not, can you pm me? i don't know anybody at wvsom, so the names would be totally meaningless to me. thanks!

I would love to see that to.I am going to be apart of the class of 2010 and it might give me a new prespective on the school.THanks a lot

Here you are, kids...

You'll find that there are a good number of specialties and localities represented. Most of our class was from east of the Mississippi and hence so were most of the residencies they matched into. Especially beginning with the class of 2007, I think there will be a wider geographic distribution in residency programs, reflecting more nationwide recruiting of out-of-state students.
