how does thier interview selection process go? do they review all applications as they come in and then vote to have an interview or what?

Heck if I know! All I know is that I got an invite from them on Thursday. Anyone out there been to an interview and want to give a gal some pointers? What's the best airport to fly into? Any other advice?

Congrats, Diana! I was at Yale earlier this week and had a really good experience. The invite came one week after I was complete, so I guess they must look at the apps as they come in... which doesn't necessarily mean that they won't invite people complete around the same time for an interview later. I flew into Hartford and took Connecticut Limo's bus into New Haven for $34. It took over an hour, and those things have miserable suspension. You can also fly into New York and take a train in. New Haven has an airport but it was super expensive to fly in there.

I can't really think of anything incredibly important that you should know before you go - except take a coat! Everyone has two interviews, and the interviewers are assigned completely randomly. I had one doctor and one student, and they both count the same. Both interviews are open file, and the interviewers know your application pretty well. They're pretty low stress. The adcom meets on Mondays to discuss everyone who interviewed in the last week, but, you know, nonrolling admissions so no news until March. PM me if you have any more questions!

It's pretty rude to take someone else's concerned question and turn it into a way for you to brag without even considering his original post.

How to best get to Yale:

1. Fly into Hartford and take the very expensive and annoying Conn Limo that will be late (36 or so)

2. Fly into the lovely tweed airport 12-15 dollar cab ride from campus

3. Some how get to NY (NOT THR JFK unless you want to be miserable) and take grand central to new haven (11.50 takes a little under 2 hours), train 10 dollar cab ride from campus

4. Fly into Newark, which apprently has very cheap flights, and take the train to new haven

If you don't want to stay with the student, I'd rec either the Colony Inn (cheaper) or the cheaper and sketchier Duncan Hotel (right next door- no immediate experience with the Duncan)

Both hotels mentioned are walking distance from the medschool and close to the central Yale campus that has a shuttle with a stop at the medschool

hope this helps!

My apologies, it certainly wasn't my intention to be rude or to brag. I was looking for Yale interview info, and it seemed that this was a good place to talk about that topic. (See thread title.) I hope that there is room for a discussion about both Yale's process for interview selections and the practical details of the interview itself.

You will save more money by Flying into Hartford and taking the Conn Limo
