Has anyone noticed a lag in the time it takes for Yale to update their status page? My application should have been complete by Nov. 15, but according to the status page they don't have anything--the LoR I express mailed on the 12th, the MCAT scores, the application fee. I am assuming they're just really behind, but I want to make sure it's not just me.

A friend and I both noticed that too. I called them about it and the lady who answered the phone (what sass!) gave me an earful about turning my application in close to the deadline (hey, man. they call 'em deadlines for a reason!). But my LORs have gotten there (checked DHL website with tracking number, not Yale's website). Also, the lady said that they'd get through the applications that came first before updating the websites on those that came later.

don't worry!
AP.

hey guys
last year, they were REALLY REALLY slow about updating status pages, too. it doesn't really reflect where they stand with your application, i think that just might be at the bottom of their priority list.
def don't stress over it. mine must have been AT LEAST 2 mos behind last year, if i'm remembering right.

fava i missed you while you were in Nj....

Ok, I figured as much. Hopefully they're not 2 months behind reviewing the apps.

Thanks for the replies.

I can't say this about Yale, but upon calling a few other schools to check on my status, I've noticed a general trend that many of them are 5-6 weeks behind on apps. Though the total number of new applicants this year only rose about 3-4%, I suspect that the total number of applications has gone up by a greater percentage (don't quote me on that). I guess the only thing we can do is wait...

Same thing here. I couriered everything to them and I know it's there.

The person in the office probably gave it to you because the page says not to call them about that stuff. Oh well.

yale is one of those really really extremely really laid back places. i think you should take this attitude in your application. not that you shouldn't worry about it at all, but don't make marks on the wall for how many days have passed since you last talked to them. maybe the best you can do is send updates, etc.

I agree... eventually, they will update the page. My supplemental was in at Yale on 10/20, and I just checked Friday (11/21) and everything was finally put in to the computer. The only reason I knew that they were alive was b/c they responded to an e-mail I sent about recommendations. So be patient, your stuff is probably in... the folks at Yale are just experiencing AVS (AMCAS verification syndrome).

Yeah. It took almost 3 weeks until my secondary was complete and in review. Does anyone know about how long it takes to receive an invitation?

Same question--- ANYONE out there knows how long after being complete does Yale ask you for an interview???? Yale is my first choice and I am anxiously waiting to hear from them. All my materials were in by Oct 24th.

I really doubt that there is a specific amount of time between submitting your app and getting an interview. It's not like 3 weeks after you are complete, you will automatically hear. I suspect that some applications, they get really excited about and offer them interviews right away, and some applications they want to reflect upon more before deciding whether to offer an interview. I also imagine that when you submitted your app matters, with earlier being better. I think the answer to the question, "when can I expect to hear?" is between two weeks after they get all of your materials and never.

Yeah, I can just imagine Silverman sitting in a room with a dozen senior Yale faculty members....and he's like, "I don't know about this kid...3.7 GPA from Nebraska, 32 MCAT, Peace Corps in Somalia....hmmm...let's reconvene in a couple of weeks and discuss inviting him for an interview at that juncture. Maybe I'll call the Dali Lama for advice and spend a few more hours poring over the applicant's AMCAS app."

Dude, they get thousands of decent applicants per year...it's probably alphabetical or completely random...they don't "reflect" on your application any more than you do when you fill out that 20th secondary application essay.

i'm just about in the same boat as you. can you be sure to post when you hear back from them? in the FAQ section of their app site they say they review the application in around 3-4 weeks. we are pretty much pass that so hopefully it won't be too long.

I called the Admission office before I checked the web. They said that they are extremely backed up, but I still would have liked to hear from them. I heard from 5 schools withing 2wks after my application was complete. it seems that it is about the time I should strat hearing from the rest of the schools. Hopefully, invites😛
