SOrry if this has already been mentioned, but I have a quick question.

Last year i went to a school that had a quarter system(3 quarters a year)...this year i went to a diff school that has a semester course sched. ANyways, im going back to the other school w/ the quarter system. My main concern is how would I figure out my gpa in the end dealing w/ the quarter/semester crap?

Should I even worry bout that or will AAcomas do it for me and send me the gpa back before I apply and have to put it on my applications?

When you're filling out AACOMAS, you have to report your units/hours based on a semester system. So 1 quarter hour = 2/3 a semester hour. I went to a school that had a quarter system so I had to convert all of them to semester hours. AACOMAS calculates your GPA for you.

https://aacomas.aacom.org/ -- click on 'Before Applying' then 'Academic Courses'. It explains it to you there plus it gives you the conversions so it saves times doing the math.

I'm wondering how much weight is given to GPA? I interviewed at PCOM and they didn't ask me about my grades, which are sub 3.0. I don't know whether to worry that they didn't ask or feel good that they can overlook it.

Many interviews are "closed-file" meaning that the interviewers don't have access to your grades & MCAT. These will later be combined with your interview to make the final decision, so don't think you are off the hook.

If it is "open-file" and they didn't bring it up, then that means they don't think it is much of a problem.

PCOM was open-file. but thanks for that info...I'll definitely pay more attention to whether or not it's open or closed for my other interviews. Thank goodness for the SDN interview feedback page!
