Yellow Headphones at Prometric

I was wondering ...

Where did Prometric get those big yellow headphones?? They were really good at noise cancelling. The ONLY noise I heard was the door closing at random times when people left for breaks. I did not even notice that half of the room had left by the time I was done. Besides for ONE farting incident and couple sneezes... everything was dead silent for me.

It was great because as soon as I took off the yellow headphones after Bio, I heard loud voices coming from JUST outside the testing room near the windows. (I think they should have signs saying... "please do not loiter near the testing room windows outside" She was freaking loud too. But the headphones really attenuated the surrounding noise so I didn't notice her voice until after the test. thank god.

So does anybody know where I can get those headphones? I am not talking about the comfortable black ones that people use for gaming (if you know what I mean). I am talking about the YELLOW ones. I believe they were rectangular or square ear muffs as opposed to the round ones.

I was at prometric in michigan and we have orange headphones... they were bulky, but pretty decent as well.

Yea I was in brooklyn, NY and they had the same ones...I didn't use them at all...we were pretty much in the 11th floor so we didn't hear anything at all except for a few coughs from people every now and then. My testing center was pretty awesome.

But it could be any color I guess. Mine just happened to be yellow and rectangular.

Can't stand ear plugs. I don't like having stuff INSIDE of me.

YES! it sorta LOOKED like that.

Maybe they are. It just covers up your whole ear as opposed to the round normal ones where they feel like cushions on your ear.

Yeah, I hate headphones or earmuffs that don't cover around the ears..
It hurts like hell after 10 minutes if they're just on the ears..!
Well, I'm sure there are quite a few different types of ear muffs out there, either used for shooting or studying, so start googling I guess..🙂

I think they're just called "on-ear" vs. "around-ear" head phones/ear muffs, if you want to narrow them down.

I took my test in California(not in Culver city though) and we had yellow ear muffs that were definitely what you would normally find in a shooting range. They were identical to ear muffs that I had at home for shooting. I tried looking for the exact brand they had at my testing center but can't find them...maybe they are outdated.

I don't know what was up with my headphones then because I could hear everyone typing while I was taking my verbal. Lost all concentration.

Are these electronic noise cancelling headphones? They're much better at tuning out constant pitch noises (like computer fans or airplanes) but almost useless at attuning percussive or erratic noises. This should be apparent since "noise cancelling" is just destructive interference created by, basically, microphones in the earphones.

Blergh. To me electronic noise cancelling always gave a weird...."pressure" of silence in my ears. I hate 'em. Earplugs ftw~

it was almost too quite though, i got sleepy

oh and try ur local home depot for the headphones, they might have them
