👍 👎 : When interviewers say things that elude to their satisfaction with you does it mean anything or are they just being polite?

well....maybe yes

after much thought.......no!

I havent been on a dental school interveiw yet. But I have interviewed people at various points in my life, and sometimes giving compliments can be sincere. But it can also be a way of keeping the conversation going or getting the person to feel comfortable.

As an interveiwee, I would pay attention more to the interviewers facial gestures. I feel like facial gestures, eye contact, and natural glances can be sometimes more telling than what's coming out of their mouths!

So what were their facial gestures telling you?

i think the interviewer has no reasons, to compliment the student...if the student isnt worthy of compliments, then he probably won't be admitted...and in that case, why would the interviewer even bother to 'please' the student?

I think it depends on the interviewer and what is being complimented. Could very well be yes, but it would be too easy to read more into it than is really there.

i.e. "See you in september" ?

did they say that to you at UConn? Why september? I couldnt imagine they said that concerning next september. They would still have to take your file to the committee. My interviewer at UConn said I was "very charming." That was kinda wierd.

I had a interview last year at a school, the interviewer said I don't see any problem academic wise and you should do well here. Lets just say I am reapplying again this year.

So in short I would say it means nothing.

I tend to agree...compliments are nice and always appreciated. You got the interview, they are impressed with you, just like they are impressed with everyone else. Just focus on the interview and let the compliments boost your confidence in the interview and make you more comfortable there. I just wouldn't read into them too much.
