Yippee DO on TV

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I watched the Michael Jackson thing before that and almost watched the special you're talking about but decided not to. Wish I had now though, go DO's!!!

I'm a part-time aspiring actor at DO school...I'm lookin to represent and get a DO into scrubs...I been searching for auditions like crazy...if anyone gots any info or connections ...let me know. I just found out that Tom Cruise played a D.O. in the movie "Eyes Wide Shut"...

DOc Hollywood,

Mani

Too many interesting things were on last night, but I ended up sticking with Doctors without borders which was great as usual. It was heartrentching though, a 14 year old boy fell playing baseball, broke his leg which went untreated, and then it swelled to 4 times its size. They found a broken leg and bone cancer. So sad.Made me cry.

i don't think he actually was a DO. there is a line when he and his wife go to the christmas party spoken by the host about going to a DO. he thanks tom cruise for recommending a DO to help him with his elbow and tom cruise says something like "best guy in new york."

i'm still waiting for a DO on ER or something...

I've seen a D.O. trauma surgeon or ED doc on TLC's Trauma Life in the ER... and like doc said, I want to see a D.O. on ER... now THAT would be cool

I heard a DO helps write E.R., not sure if it's true but I wonder why they haven't put one on the show. I'd like to see it as well.

it's true. One of the actual emergency docs that helps edit ER is a DO. He along with other docs edit/modify the scenes so it looks realistic. He came to SDSU to talk about it. Way cool!

I'm not sure why people want to see a DO in a high profile show like Scrubs or ER. Neither of these shows has the type of audience that would really care about that nor would they be able to discern the difference.

Do you think an "ER" scene would be a DO perfomring some great manipulation then saying "well, IM a DO"? Sounds like a lame attempt at an AOA ad.

Having a DO on a show like this would not bring credibility to the profession. Wasn't there a PA on ER? Has that done anything good for their profession? Not likely. Has it hurt? No. But I bet you that having a DO on the show would not have an earth shattering result.

There are plenty of DOs on TLCs trauma. Ive seen ER docs, ortho people and a Radiologist to name a few. Do you think people can tell? No. Who is looking...DO students. We look at the white coat and call out to our SOs and roomates "look, that guy/gal is a DO!". Big deal. I do it. Hell, my girlfriend doesnt seem to care. She is in the medical field. Why would some Joe Schmo sitting on his couch at home care?

What about a Discovery Health special on osteopathy and AT Still? Now youre talking. Problem with that...I dont fully trust them. There are plenty of "reputable sources" out there that manage to screw up a bunch of facts about DOs.

I dunno...maybe I dont know what Im talking about. But what are the chances of that?

Thats right. JPHazelton is back.

JP, I forgot...which DO school do you attend? :hardy:

I was watching Discovery health and they had a urologist on who was a DO, that specializes in helping patients switch genders. It's always nice to see DOs on TV.

Help people switch genders? Out of all the DOs in America and they put this guy on? Does anyone else find this to be a bit humorous?

I know,I know, but you know how people always say.... SO can a DO do something other than primary care. Well here is the proof. And someone has to help these people, why not a DO who will listen to their problems as well as treat their bodies.

They didn't come out and say this guy was a DO, they put his name up briefly and the DO letters were after his name.
But your right it was a bit funny.😛
