Thats where Cornell sends all Cornell undergrads instead of to NYC. (Sorry, just a bitter cornell undergrad...didn't even get an interview at Cornell Med.)

Hmmm Good question Samoa. I would if Cornell could garantee me a spot in the class!

If it means a spot at Cornell Med, I would wear a miniskirt for a year! Not that they want me to...

They would probably not expect you to wear a burqa in Qatar, Bahrain or the UAE. The only country right now in the Middle East where women are expected to wear enveloping robes is Saudi Arabia.

you also have to wear a burqa in iran.

but no matter what country, you WILL have to wear a chador covering your hair.

choker,

I don't think Western women are expected to cover hair even in Saudi Arabia, they wear their usual stuff and just throw on an abaya, or long robe, before they go out. Only Saudi women are expected to cover their hair. But in Iran, are Westerners expected to cover hair too?
Irani women I know traditionally cover, I forgot about them. 😀 un dokhtar Irani khush geilei

I was in Medina for a while and had to cover my hair at ALL times in public. I have seen some pretty horrible things happen to women who did not comply. I could never go back there. However, when I was in Jeddah, I did not have to cover my hair but I felt safer wearing the abaya and head covering. When you are covered, the Saudi men will not touch you because they do not know if you are Western or Saudi.

All women in Iran, Westerner or not, are required to cover their hair, but that means simply a scarf and NOT burqa.
And yes, dokhtarhaye irani khush gelan 😀

From what I hear - most of us cornell ugrads will get interviews at cornell med, unless theres something really messed up in our application. Also I hear they take quite a few ugrads from here, esp. if youre applying md-phd cause not many apply.
no?
