Accepted students who change their status to "medical student" before even going to the first day of class in the fall. Seriously, wait for it like the rest of us 😛
So you're telling us you've already enrolled and started classes at Tufts?
When I can't find the droids I'm looking for.
Yeah, what's up with that? When I can't find the droids I'm looking for.
Wait- you actually pay attention to this? So after you notice someones status do you track down their posts to see if they are at school yet?
Sounds like self-induced gear-grinding....
No it is an issue, because some readers assume that a poster has more credibility based on where he is in the process. Honestly someone who has yet to attend med school has no added insight over someone who is simply a senior in college, while someone who is in their last year of medical school probably has significant insight as to the med school path. Yet if a just accepted person adds med student to their profile, it exhalts their credibility in the eyes of someone who isn't familiar with the players.
Similarly, 4th year med students shouldn't (and don't) list themselves as residents right after the match in mid march. Heck, the optho/uro and military match folks already had their matches, so should they be passing themselves off as residents notwithstanding that they won't be starting their intern year for 6 months. So no, you are premed until your orientation starts. Deal with it.

Actually the 2013'ers have it pretty-well advertised that they're starting in September.
I'm so excited and proud that I want to change my status to "Medical Student", but I haven't because I can understand the argument that I haven't felt the wrath upon me yet... so I have no right.
Still, super duper proud and want to show it... but alas, I wait.
No it's not.I'm hesitant to put Class of 2013 on my profile, because its relatively common to take a research year or get a dual degree, so I might not actually get my MD in 2013...
Whereas in high school and college, I definitely associated myself with "Class of ___"
Um, at some schools as many as half the class graduate in 5 or more years. No it's not.
But thanks for proving Law2Doc's point.

🙂 You know what really grinds my gears? People acting like being a few years older/ahead of me makes them all-knowing.http://www.aamc.org/data/aib/aibissues/aibvol7_no2.pdf
20% or so of students take 5 or more years. Granted, failing a year isn't the same as getting a Masters, but it still results in having to alter your Class year.
Dude, didn't you guys know class of 2013 starts Oct 15th, 2008? Come on.
You know what really doesn't grind my gears? Law2Doc. He is sweet.
Maybe for you, but I'm starting in early July.![]()

I know! I haven't had any motivation to do any work, even though I'm just taking 3 classes (I'm on a reduced senior status this semester) and one of them is a cake walk for me.

Depends what school you're talking about. You also don't know how interested shemarty is in taking an extra year or two. In fact, I've been toying with the idea more lately...No it's not.
This publication has NOTHING to do with taking a year for research, the subject of the post to which I replied.http://www.aamc.org/data/aib/aibissues/aibvol7_no2.pdf

But what do I know? My status says premed, so that would be nothing, right?
I feel really lame for wanting to switch my SDN status to Medical Student so badly...admit it, it's pretty nerdy. Sigh...6 months to go.
You were put in your place with their response and it showed you were wrong. Learn and move on.
Everyone knows it's not for real until you change your facebook profile to include medical school...its the same with relationships, btw.
