Hello, I've been a spectator on this site for a while; now, I'm a register member.

I took a Kaplan Midterm yesterday and ran out of stamina after the PAT while I was coming down with a cold.

PAT: 23
RC: 16
QR: 12

RC: It took me 35mins to go through the first passage and so I didn't have enough time to go through the rest. Quickly went through the 2nd and 100% guess on the 3rd.

QR: The math was brutally hard. I was only able to get up to # 20 only before time ran out. I always thought that I'm good at math. There were so many word questions.

I plan to take a couple more kaplan's practice tests to see how the scores will turn out. Overall, I'm very dreadful seeing the low scores in the science and even lower score in RC and QR. My real DAT is in one week. What's your opinion on what I need to do to improve on the overall scores?

Great scores, for the quantitative reasoning section you should try the MATH destroyer.

The reading comprehension section I think you need to do a bunch of practice tests and figure out a technique that works for you, maybe try the search and destroy method.

I would also recommend the DAT destoyer and Cliffsnotes AP Bio for the Natural Sciences section.

Good Luck!

That's not a bad first try. Trust me, I know it feels like crap right now because of the 12 and 16 but after a bit of studying...you'll see how fast they rise.

I had the same experience with QR too. I got a 15 the first time I took a full length test while my other scores were significantly higher. QR comes at the very end and by that time fatigue is setting in and you think "f*ck it...I'm almost done."

I think it's just about conditioning your mind for that last push till the end. Doing more full length practice tests will allow you to have a reasonable expectation for how much energy will be required through all the sections. So that by the end you'll be ready to read through all those word problems and calculations.

Just keep in mind that it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Good job for your first time👍

I would use Math DEstroyer AND Crack DAT MATH... Crack DAT MAth has 25 full tests and it breaks your scores down which allows you to see which type of problems you are missing. Once you are able to complete the test at the normal time length then you can actually adjust the timer so that you have reduced time... this will force you to go faster and build speed.. + I liked the written/Video explanations.

Other than that good job... See my blog under breakdown for a list of all my practice scores (top score/ Achiever)
