Hi All,

I thought it might be interesting to share what your top choice school(s) is/are from your accepted school(s) pool. Also, what your reasoning or thought process is for choosing that final school.

Perhaps, this could help the rest of us to see what other factors that we might have overlooked before making a sound decision.

Thanks

Nova is a good school in a great location. Very clinical and friendly faculty. I have friends that go there and are very happy. I think aside from being my only acceptance, it would have been my number one pick.

Choice of school is highly dependent on individual circumstances.

I had the choice between Tufts and a public ivy. School name is important but only to an extent. My experience at Tufts was hands down the best of the schools I visited. Faculty, staff, and students seemed really happy to be there and went out of their way to make sure all the interviewees felt welcomed and had their questions answered. The tour and info session with the Dean of Admissions was very thorough, I really appreciated the time they committed in letting us know everything about the school. My interviewers were hands down awesome, made it very laid-back so that I wouldn't be nervous. The "old" floors were really nice, the new floors were just amazing. Lets not forget Boston, big-city feel was something I was looking for in dental school. Tufts has been well known to turn out great clinical practitioners, very well respected by those in the profession. Because its not an ivy nor is it a super-cheap state school a lot of people choose to go elsewhere but to each his own.

My advice - don't let people sway you too much in your decision. Like Zubneya said, each person will have their own set of preferences in choosing a school.

agreed.

I chose UW over Pitt, Tufts, and Case. UW is my state school and going there is like writing myself a $160,000 check. Also, it is one of the best schools out there.

i chose Howard over BU. even thought students from BU loves it there while some student from Howard that i talked to dont like it there But guess what ?? i am saving myself around 150 K !!!!!.. yeh maybe i would be happier at BU but it is not worth the 150 k at all !!!!.. so the cost was my number 1 issue after talking to dentists and students..

I have always liked the PBL idea. Thats the way I learn. Cal is never a bad place to live if you like the sunshine!!

I chose Louisville for cost, location, and being a school that fits me. Compared to the other school I got accepted to I would be saving around 100k. Also, I think Louisville is a nice area to take my little family to. I had two cousins go there and they loved it.

according to the almighty wikipedia:

"The University of Pennsylvania (commonly referred to as Penn or UPenn) is a private research university located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Pennsylvania

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Ivy

The original eight Public Ivies list by Richard Moll (1985):

College of William & Mary (Williamsburg, Virginia)
Miami University (Oxford, Ohio)
University of California (campuses as of 1985)[6]
University of Michigan (Ann Arbor)
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
University of Texas at Austin
University of Vermont (Burlington)
University of Virginia (Charlottesville)

Moll also offered in the same book "a list of worthy runners-up" and brief summaries of them:

University of Colorado at Boulder
Georgia Institute of Technology
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
New College of the University of South Florida (Now New College of Florida)
Pennsylvania State University at University Park
University of Pittsburgh
State University of New York at Binghamton
University of Washington at Seattle
University of Wisconsin–Madison

i agree too. one thing i notice is that the school is really laid back there, students including other heath care look like they enjoy their time here. When i interview at Columbia, students there look so stressful and they look like they have not showered in days:scared:
