Here is my situation: I interviewed @ Temple a long while ago, and was very impressed by their clinical emphasis. & I was very excited when they accepted me, so obviously they have my deposit... Now I was just offered a seat @ UNLV, a very new/modern school with only 1 graduated class out... Any one who interviewed there knows about their integrated system of teaching... One that I am not a fan of, because I am by no means an audio-visual learner. NE wayz here's my dilema:

1. My family lives in Cali (about 3 hr drive from Vegas), that is not nearly as hard of a transition than to Philly ( about 7hr flight).
2. The cost is nearly the same +/- a couple thousand.
3. I cant stand the cold for too long (brrrrr in Philly)
4. UNLV from the outside is a big construction site (not 2 nice to look at)
5. Philly is city of brotherly love 🙂
6. Vegas is sin city:meanie:

Some One HEELLLP! What would you do?

looks like you pretty much answered this question for yourself. id say tough it up and hit up temple.

Yes it's not too nice from the outside, however it is BEAUTIFUL from the inside! I'm just saying when I pulled up into their parking lot I wasn't sure that I was pulling up into a D-school, it looked like some one was breaking ground for a new strip club. LOL (it was just an exterior first impression)...
I'd really love some more imput... Thanks

If you aren't a visual learner, don't attend UNLV. You will struggle. The integrated cirriculum is all about seeing, hearing, and understanding the material concurrently.

It would be hell if you aren't a visual learner. Both are good schools though, and you will be proud to say you are a grad of either. 👍

The way that fellow described audio visual, wasn't bad... duh, I still remember the blue SAIL example in his breakdown of their integrated teaching style. However i am one to write things down, over and over, reading it over and over in order to memorize it. Does that mean I wouldn't be able to handle their program, or at least be in a worse position than others?

PS. I just calculated it, UNLV is actually about 26k cheaper. (bonus)

You are comparing apples to Oranges. I am from the West coast as well and interviewed at both schools. The UNLV clinics were empty. They are not an established program they are a new school like Arizona with kinks to work out. Temple is the second oldest dental school in continuous operation with a great clinical reputation. What reputation does UNLV have? There is nothing in Vegas besides the strip and let me tell you after a couple of weeks you will have done everything there is to do there.
