Not to scare anyone, but lets get it out there
Not to scare anyone, but lets get it out there
If you start the thread, then you should probably contribute.
I thought it seemed early for this, but then I saw last year's thread, which was started Sept 7, 2010.
I'm always fascinated by the construction of these "official" threads, and how much they stick to a common formula. My biggest question: How do you know how many asterisks to put in the thread title?
Sure, five on each side seems like a safe bet, and was the chosen approach for the 2010-2011 thread, but integrated plastics seems to think they only need 3. This rocked my world, but I was brought back to sanity by the Pediatrics forum, who stayed conservative with the industry standard.
....but then, I saw that the ER forum went rogue and started an official thread without any asterisks at all! Instead, they employed the more modern ALL CAPS technique. Now I just don't know what to believe....
Step 1 235/99
Step 2 256/99
Applied to over 200 catergorical programs, nothing yet. Anybody getting any interviews? Im so anxious, checking my email 20 times a day.

Why in the world would you apply to 200 programs with those scores? FMG?
I have 2 friends that have both steps in and have gotten interviews. one was a 245/252 and the other was a 229/231. The latter submitted this morning and got an interview about 2 hours later. I've gotten no bites yet but my step 2 isn't in, it's pending.

Did Jackson Pollock have to explain how many times he flung his brush at the canvas and why? I think not.
Holy benjamins batman!!!!
Actually that is a common misconception. Pollock never flung paint onto the canvas. He would lay it down on the ground and drop the paint onto the canvas/ pour it on from the paint can.
Pretty quiet on the Surgery front? I haven't heard anything yet. I heard it was later, but all of my friends in other fields are getting 3-5 interviews already so the stress is starting to begin.
I'm not sure how this list should be done but...

Man, when did you all apply?!?!
I can't imagine that these are the only offerings...my school didn't have transcripts up and half of the letter of recs arent in.
Gotta be more invites for these places, don't you think.
I hope these programs will send out more batches of invites! My school doesn't upload transcripts until late October, and our surgery chair hasn't started on his LORs yet (he typically writes them the first week of October, despite students begging him - year after year - to start earlier).
I hit submit in ERAS on September 1st anyways, just so I'd at least have my part done. I know some programs won't review an application until a chair's letter is in (or there are three letters uploaded), but I guess others will review an application that is "incomplete," and send out rejections/invites without all materials submitted.
Everyone I've spoken with says it's still very early for invites, though, so I'm not losing hope - and neither should you!
That's interesting about your school. Ours was on us to submit our applications on September 1st, and made sure everything was uploaded (transcripts, letters, etc), so pretty much everyone in my class had ours in on day 1.
is it a private school?
