Which Baylor, BUMC in Dallas or Baylor College of Medicine in Houston?
Can a program reject you after confirming your interview date through eras? I just got an email from a program that confirmed my interview date 3 days ago, sent me accomodation directions, etc and now I got a rejection from them? Is this an automated email that got sent to me by mistake? Or did they reconsider? I checked the address box, and it was invisible, which makes me think it was a group email.
Thanks!
I got that email too. The invite was personalized to my name and the rejection was a mass email. I'm not all that concerned.
I just got an interview to Univ Illinois Metro, got a confirmation for my interview date on 11/12, but then got an email with the heading "interview update" and it says how they cannot offer an interview due to the 'high volume of applicants and sorry for any inconveniences' Im kind of worried, dont know whether this was an error on their part, or if they pretty much just cancelled my interview after confirming it with me three days ago.
Thanks for the heads up! I will be really upset if they really do cancel that interview. Also, for those of you that got an invite to Univ. Illinois Metro, by any chance did it mention whether it was for categorical/prelim? The reason I ask is that I applied for both, but in my invite letter it does not mention what position I am interviewing for. Any thoughts?
Mine didn't mention if categorical or prelim, but I never applied for prelim, only categorical. How about you agranulocytosis? Does it usually mention prelim in the other invites?
another great way to find out programs general patterns is
residencyadvisor.info
you can use it to track your applications and create a neat little interview calendar. You can also see when programs have traditionally sent out interview invites and what dates those interviews are for. Of course it's all self reported but since we are probably all at least a little neurotic about this, i figure it's pretty accurate. You can also see how past people have preferentially ranked the programs you applied to.

call me paranoid, maybe bc i have only two interviews so far, but regarding illinois metro, are any of you guys going to contact Naomi on Monday regarding these potential interview rejections they may have accidently sent out?
I checked this source out as I posted my estimation of interview invites sent. I would like to give credit to making a nice interview tracker and producing an overall consensus on interviews vs. rejections, etc.
A warning, after looking at a combined analysis of >30 schools from this site. I would NOT trust the interview timing of this site. If you believe the timing of this site is accurate you should have seen 60%-65% of interviews in the first week of september. By the third week of september (now), 90-95% of interviews would have gone out. On that idea if you have less than 10 interviews now you would plan on not matching, that is just plain not the case. It is probably a bias based on how people use the site. It is just plain inaccurate. That is the general case.
An anecdotal case is North Carolina, they sent out their first batch of interviews about 5-6 days ago. Beginning of week 3 or end of week 2. This website indicates it classically has sent out 75% of their invites in the first 2 weeks. UNC didn't download general surgery applications until about the 16th of September this year.... Something about all that data does not line up at all.
Anyway, just wanted to point that out if people use the source and are freaked out about the timing. Use the site to track applications and see schools overall interview/rejection rate. The timing on the site is crap.
For those getting the interviews, did you have complete applications, including LORs?

Hi guys! Congrats on all the interview offers! Just a quick question - I still only have two invites, one rejection, and 70+ programs I have yet to hear from (though 25 or so of those programs have indeed sent out invites, based on information in this thread).
At what point should I begin to panic/add more programs/come up with an alternate life plan? I'm a US grad, and thought if I applied widely enough, I'd be okay. However, I'm starting to have serious doubts. I have two letters in (from faculty at two away rotations), but my surgery chairman has yet to submit his LOR, and my school hasn't uploaded transcripts yet.
Not sure if this renders my application incomplete/non-reviewable at some programs (though obviously not all, since I've heard from a few schools, as have others, it seems), and I should continue to be patient, or whether continued silence is ominous, and I should perhaps consider adding Burger King and Taco Bell to the list of places I should apply.
Thanks in advance for the help! And again, congrats to everyone on this thread!

Why no letters from your home institution? Just wondering.
