I have no idea where to ask this so feel free to move it if necessary.

As my Plan B to medical school, I'm looking into becoming a Nurse Practitioner. I know Ohio State has a program where, in 3 years, you become an RN, get your Masters of Science in Nursing, and are eligible to become a Nurse Practitioner in your chosen area of specialization.

I really like this program because it allows me to become a CNP in 3 years. I know a ton of programs that are accelerated BSN programs, but I already have a BSN, I don't want to do another in 1-1.5 years and then do a 3 year traditional masters program where I can become an RN and CNP in 3 years.

Does anyone know of any other such programs where you can become a CNP and get your MSN in 3 years with a non-nursing bachelors degree?

Thanks 🙂 🙂 🙂

I remember you... you were the one who tried to rain all over my parade a long time ago. I know of a program like you're talking about, but I'm not telling you.

I'm new here, but rather surprised at some of the posts I'm reading, from supposedly educated and ambitious people. 😕

I'm not trying to steal someone's spot in a nursing program who wants to be a nurse and then not work in the field. If I go, I will spend the rest of my life working in nursing. If I pursue medicine, I won't go to nursing. I also didn't ask for everyone's advice and then say they were all wrong and act like I knew more than the admissions committees. I have nothing against nursing. Big difference.

The truth is that I disagree with what you have to say, and I consider it a waste of time to discuss this issue with you further. That, and I won't jeapordize my account here to waste time fighting with you. If you insist on retorting to my comments, then keep it civil, because I'll report any violations of the terms of service on this board to forum moderators.

You are going to complain that I'm backing up my statements or... ? I work in the admissions office of a large highly ranked medical school so I'm going to stick with the statistics we have in the admissions office to be true.

And to the general public, please don't reply to my thread unless you actually have an answer to the original question. Thanks.

These are typically bridge or direct-entry MSN programs. Several schools have them, but their implementation varies.

You already have a BSN? If so, you don't need the direct-entry MSN. You can do a regular MSN and save yourself some time and money.

Most direct-entry MSN programs don't give you a BSN. You take BSN lelvel classes, take the NCLEX to be an RN, and then take the additional classes for the Masters/NP program.

Does anyone know of any other such programs where you can become a CNP and get your MSN in 3 years with a non-nursing bachelors degree?
