Can someone tell me the name of this and why it's achiral thanks, it's in the attachment.

1-methyl-1-hydroxy-tetrahydrofuran?

i don't think it is achiral. there is no plane of symmetry that i can see.

naming heterocyclics is not required for mcat
 
According to TPR diagnostic Ochem test #39 it is achiral, but I think it's def chiral, confused, maybe it's a typo
 
I'm pretty sure that's chiral. Also, it'd be 1-hydroxy-1-methyl-THF, because substituents at the same carbon are named in alphabetical order (worth remembering even if you never have to name a heterocyclic compound).
