4 weeks to return secondaries

I got caught up in the onslaught of secondaries I received after having my primary verified. I am approaching the 4 week deadline for a few, but was wondering if it was still worth applying to these schools? I know 4 weeks is quite some time, and I would rather not waste the funds if it means turning in a secondary that will basically be dismissed due to the length of time it took for me to submit it.
