I would have picked D for the bacterial infection one because while it is true that it would result in no proteins it could possibly affect the eukaryotic cells as well. Usually we want an antibiotic that will target something unique to the organism, such as their cell wall lets say.

Also I was under the impression we didnt have to know how to calculate recombinant frequencies for linked genes. Am I wrong???
 
1) D definitely crossed my mind for that one (for the same reason), but I think it's a pretty crappy answer choice, unless there was a corresponding passage that discussed what you mentioned.

2) I skipped that question, because I don't have the slightest! :)
