Hey guys, I'm new at sdn and was noticing how people with 3.95/4.00sci. averages and 20+ DAT have threads titled "Freaking Out" and are collecting a bunch of rejection letters. WTF!! Is D-school, like, impossible to get into? Are these ppl having trouble because maybe they come from unknow/low-tier undergrad schools (e.g. comm. colleges, etc.)? Do dental schools even CARE where u went as an undergrad?

Anyway thx.

Wow, so many questions.

People (myself included) are starting to freak out because the unknown is scary. Give everyone a week and most people will have a better idea of what's going on. The first date that acceptances can be communicated was Dec 1st (last friday) and some people (Amsie) are working towards getting restraining orders put on them by their mailmen. Dental school is not "impossible" to get into, but it is getting exponentially more difficult each year with many more qualified applicants and zero new seats available. And yes, schools care about your undergraduate education as much as they care about every other aspect of your application. Some weigh certain parts more than others and every school is different in this respect but, as long as you pull good grades, perform well on the DAT, and show committment and dedication to your informed decision to pursue dentistry you'll be as snug as a bug in a rug when your time comes to apply.

Read up on here -- there's some good resources. However, keep in mind that this is an anonymous message board so consider your source of information with a grain of salt.
