academic pain salaries in NYC

hi, im going to be starting my fellowship in nyc this year....and i am considering doing academics for a little while.
does anyone know whats the salary range in academics in nyc area? and how competitive is it to land an academic job?

in Chicago, a comparable big city...it's 250..i would figure because it's NYC and cost of living is more, it's 275.

Some fellows interviewing a couple of years ago in NYC were saying it was closer to 225 in Manhattan proper. They were saying some were even lower. Much lower. Not sure if it's changed or not.

It changed. It is 275 but I would say nothing below 250
