There are four call teams on the main floor and four for tele. Each team has a long call (overnight) Q4, each tele team is also Q4. There is also short call (overflow admits from the overnight cover senior) every Q4. So the schedule is long call/post call/short call/no call. No short call teams on weekend. Most teams cap most days. Maximum patients per intern per call is 5 on long call, total of 10 for the team, and 2-3 for short call, total of 5 for team. Theoretical maximum number of patients carried by intern is 12, maximum number of patients per team is 24. Also present are an abundant number of usually able students from CMS, Midwestern University (Osteopathic College of Chicago), and UIC.
